Les dates!

Finallement! je suis organisee pour les vacances d'ete qui arrivent a grands pas!

Donc, Alice Victor et moi decollons le 20 juillet, nous arriverons le meme soir a Mitilini. Nous logerons dans une maison a Ipsilometopo... pour changer et un peu pour faire les pieds aux grippe sous de Molivos, mais surtout pour etre AU CALME.

Et on reste jusqu'a la fin de l'ete! youpi!

Rendez vous a Montreux en Juillet?

Salut,
Un petit moment que je n'ai pas écrit. Faut dire que j'ai fait presque le tour du monde ce mois ci. En un voyage Départ Lausanne, j'ai fait Genève-Paris. Paris-Dubai. Dubai-Cape Town. Cape Town-Dubai. Dubai-Paris, Paris Miami. Miami-Paris. Paris- Genève.
Si ce n'était pas pour le volcan j'aurais bouclé le voyage en 6 jours. Heureuement j'ai obtenu 2 jours de repis supplémentaire.
Les 2 jours a Cape Town étaient bien sur chargés d'emotion mais j'ai tout de meme profité de l'océan, le bon vin et la chaleur familiale.

Resté bloqué a Miami était sympa meme si la pluie n'a pas arreté. Voici ue photo du Downtown ou se trouve l'hotel dont je m'occupe (batiment au fond).

Miami est tout de meme sympa, on y trouve des chose insolites comme cette charmante serveuse en Dirdle en plein Lincoln Road la rue pietonne principale de la plage. (oui c'est bien Miami!)

Le progamme du Montreux Jazz festival qui commence le premier Juillet a été annoncé ce matin. Je vous propose de tous s'y retrouver le weekend du 3 et 4 histoire de fêter notre installation, l'anniversaire d'Antoine, son MBA, mon future MBA, ...

J'avais eu l'idée de ce blog pour garder un contact avec notre famille voyageuse mais la, les chose s'accélèrent on dirait. Si je ne m'abuse nos différent family members auront mis leur empreintes dans les pays suivants en ce début d'année 2010:

Pour ma part, depuis la Suisse j'ai visité Madrid, Berlin, Miami et Lisbonne depuis...le début Mars!

J'ai fais également un peu de networking. Ce mois ci a Berlin j'ai participé a un Forum d'investissement ou j'ai revu Léo Steinbauer. J'ai également participé a une coisière organisée par l'Ecole hotelière de Caux ou j'ai revu un ami directeur d'hotels a Disney. Hier a mon retour de Lisbonne, je suis allé a l'hotel des 3 couronnes a Vevey a une réunion Stamm EHL ou j'ai rencontré pas mal de vieilles connaissances  que j'avais perdu de vue depuis un moment.

Comme je gère mon déménagement+installation en meme temps ce mois-ci, vous pouvez vous imaginer que ce n'est pas toujours facile a gérer mon calendrier...

It actually felt warm in that spot, we had a snack and were ready for the hike back.

February holiday in Madrid

Alice Victor and I went to Madrid for the kid's half term school break. It was a failed attempt to escape the UK's coldest winter in decades... but Mr Frost was everywhere, even in Madrid. We spent our first day admiring the snow falling on the mountains where it stayed for the rest of our visit. I must say that Antoine and Eva's new house has a magnificent view on the Sierra.

Of course, the real reason for our trip was to catch up with our beloved Iberian family. The girls fell into each other's arms and picked up where they left off last time they were together...

Eva, Antoine, Maman (who arrived on the snowing day) and I spent many evenings chatting until late, sampling good Spanish wines nibbling Jamon and other delicacies.

That took care of some of our time, but we had to work up an appetite for the next meal as well as find some suitable active activities for the little ones. What do you do in a city with small children and bad weather?... visit museums, 0bviously.

We did them all, the Reina Sofia, the Prado and the Thyssen. They each have great collections but we had to be selective with our viewings in order to keep the children interested. It was fun observing and sharing in their artistic awakening.

At the Prado, Alice finally got to visit Velasquez' little princess (Las Meninas) and Victor was most impressed by Bruegel's "Triumph of Death". He spent a long time scrutinising the picture, had many questions... and then he saw him, the hero, the man who is fighting back and winning (lower

right hand side of the picture), so he moved on looking for Goya's "Shooting on May the 3rd". All three of cousins (Nora, Alice and Victor)got fascinated with Geronimo Bosh... each filled a sketch books with their own drawings.

The next day we were off to the Reina Sofia, mission Guernica... Victor can't wait, nor can I. They are fascinated with Mr Picasso, the man who realised that to be great he had to remember how to draw and paint like a child. As for the museum, besides the collection the architecture is impressive, but I would really pass on the cafe, a disappointment after the great service and lovely food we found at Prado and Thyssen.

We didn't burden ourselves with cars for those visits, the trains in Madrid are frequent, clean and fast. Overall a very pleasant way to get around town, not to mention the fact that kids are free and really enjoy the ride. So we made ample use of them.

By the end of the week the weather had improved in so much as it was dry and sunny. Antoine could steal some time from his studies and we all went for a long walk at the foot of the Sierra. Gael, who is only 2, impressed us all by walking nearly the whole way, and we did go for a very very long walk...

Sadly, we saw quite little of Antoine who is working like a slave over his MBA. The little scraps of free time he has are primarily spent with his children, naturally. Often, after we had drained the last drops of wine and exhausted the last breaths of conversation for the evening, whilst we would collapse into bed, he would fire up the Nespresso machine, whip his laptop into shape and sit down for another round of studying. However, in the whirlwind of their busy lives Eva and Antoine seem to create their own brand of harmony witch is pervasive in their home, their hospitality and their generosity. In short, it was a great week.

Pour information la température moyenne a cette époque est entre 10 et 15 degrés aux bord du lac. La neige en montagne est alors sur sa fin.

Selon je ne peux malheureusement pas vous inviter mais je peux négocier d'exellents tarifs d'hotels. Dès que j'ai une date je vous transmet les tarifs que j'ai pu vous obtenir grace aux anciens EHL.

Dans les invités, je pense que la formule Ecosse était pas mal. Nous pensons également inviter les soeurs de Cricri, Igor, François, etc

Ca manque un peu de participation ce blog, vous savez que vous avez tous le droit de partager vos nouvelles...

Donc je raconte.

Bon, que faisont nous? nous continuons a repeindre la maison. Les chambres sont presque toutes finies. Alice a reussi a me convaincre de lui donner le rose qu'elle convoitait. C'est tres joli finalement.

Janvier est deja passe! C'est presque les vacances de Fevrier! D'ailleurs, nous saisissons l'occasion, les enfants et moi, pour faire une petite visite a la famille espagnole. Oui oui, direction Madrid le jour de la Saint Valentin pour une semaine. Seigneur, faites que le soleil brille, nous en avons tant besoin!

Sinon, il semble que l'annee se decide a passer trestres vite (c'est expres le "trestres"). On pense deja aux vacances de paques (en fait, je ne pense qu'aux vacances en ce moment, ceci dit, dans mon cas ce ne sont pas autant des vacances que des voyages).

Et bien sur les grandes vacances. Le soleil et de chaleur nous ont tellement fait defaut ces dernieres annees.

Avez vous des projets? je pense louer une maison en Grece tout l'ete, ou alors en France, ou alors aux baleares....

Une maison simple, sans piscine, avec de la place... avez vous des idees?

Et puis c'est surtout l'occasion de se voir peut etre, non?

Proposed reunion

Hello the familly,

I am just back from 2 weeks of travelling to Portugal and Miami where I have a few projects.
I didn't see that much because I was working but there are some great things to see in both places.

We are moving in our new home in a couple of days without our shipment which is delayed by a few weeks. We don't even have a bed.....

Chris is arriving on Feb 2nd with the cat in Zurich

I will keep you posted on a proposed reunion in Switzerland like we did in Scottland around my birthday... what do you guys say?

Ok, ok, here is a bit more about the Maldives.

First, I would say that the Maldives is a country for those who love the sea and all water related sports. If you like forests and mountains, pass your way. There aren't any. Also, if you like fast cars and designer shoes... you will be disappointed, there hardly are any roads at all (most islands just have no cars) and you will be really hard pushed to walk in the sand in your Jimmy Choos.

Indeed the Maldives is 99% under water and the rest is essentially sand and coconut trees. We were on a "big island", yes, it was: it took at least half an hour to walk around it. That sounds quite boring, doesn't it?... unless, like me, you are sea babe, because that's where the fun begins. There is another world beyond the sand and the

coconut trees, THE CORAL REEFS! Just snorkeling in 2 feet of water will take your breath away (not literally,of course). The sea is warm, shallow, safe and rich in all sorts of amazing beautiful life. If you venture a bit further and wear an aqualung... it gets even more beautiful, you name it, they have it.

So we spent 10 days without ever wearing a single pair of shoes (even the Maldivian air taxi seaplane pilots never wear shoes), completely spoiled for choice as to where we should swim, snorkel or go boating. Eating the freshest reef fish, scanning the horizon for the rest of the supplies which come by boat from other islands.

Maldivians (the ones we met) are very gentle and friendly, quite laid back (who wouldn't be in such a country). Their art is mainly ephemeral but no less beautiful. They are rather unspoilt as they have no natural resources other powers would want to prey on and the government discourages foreigners mixing with the local population. I think it is a good thing after all.

PS. Not country for golfers either....

Apres les fetes "à la Prager" à Eyguieres ou on a eu la joie de partager de joyeux moments avec les branches espagnoles et parisiennes de notre belle famille, je suis actuellment a Lausanne. Depuis une semaine j'essaye de me faire à la neige et le froid alors que Christiane et Liza sont à Dubai pour plier la maison.

Le petit village de Chexbres ou je vis ressemble au village du père Nöel. J'habite provisoirement dans l'immeuble en haut à droite

Le petit train que je prends tous les matins

Chexbres est situé dans le Lavaux, la région viticole de la Suisse classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Voila la vue que j'ai eu cet après midi quand je me suis baladé.

La semaine prochaine je pars au Portugal pour faire une étude de marché et la semaine suivante je suis à Miami pour aller reprendre la representation du Conrad Hilton.

Je n'ai pas trop de photos à faire partager pour l'instant mais je rajouterais des photos bientot.
